Pulmonologist Profile

I’ve been fascinated about science since my childhood and I find joy in helping people feel better. Medicine is a field that I can use science to help people heal or at least help them understand the science behind the disease process.

As a pulmonologist and critical care physician, I care for patients with lung problems both in the outpatient clinical setting and also in the hospital intensive care unit.

That range of patient care is what drew me to my specialty. It is unique in that it allows me to build relationships with patients in the outpatient setting where I may see them for many years but also allows me to care for the acutely ill patients and see them recover in the intensive care unit.

My specialty is very technical. It requires an understanding of the science but also involves the human touch and the dedication. It requires a certain passion for patient care -- and I have that. I like connecting and building a rapport with my patients. It always gives me joy to talk to my patients, whether it is over the phone or in person.

When I meet with a patient I do the best I can to, first of all, find out what their health issue is, what the symptoms are and then I work to explain to them and educate them on their health and together find a solution for them.

I treat every patient as if they are a member of my own family. I try to listen and try to help solve their health issue by providing the best advice that I can. If I don’t have the answer, I will research and I will work with colleagues to find the answer.

Common issues I see in patients include asthma, chronic cough, shortness of breath and often will see patients who are worried about a finding on a CT scan of their chest. I work hard to reassure them. It brings joy to my heart when I am able to hear back from them later that they are doing well.

I love what I do as a doctor. Even at the end of a very long day, I still feel happy, especially when I see good outcomes for my patients. It keeps me coming in the next day.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family doing fun stuff or just hanging out. I also enjoy amateur astronomy.
